Mexican Baseball League

While there is dispute among scholars as to where and when the first game of baseball was played in Mexico, there is no dispute that the game is as popular there as it is in America. The popularity of the sport led to the establishment of the Professional Mexican Baseball League in 1925, which continues today. This text opens with a brief history of Mexican professional baseball and provides, in both English and Spanish, statistical information on the players of the Mexican Baseball League since 1937 (the first year in which the league kept official records). Individual batting statistics for each player and pitching statistics for each pitcher are provided, along with tables listing rookie of the year, no hit games, perfect games, triple crown winners and consecutive games, team champions, individual batting champions, individual pitching champions, winning percentage, earned runs, the best batters in each category (runs scored, hits, doubles, triples, etc.), all-time individual batting leaders, the best pitchers in each category (innings pitched, complete games, shutouts, etc.), and all-time individual pitching leaders. Members of the Mexican Baseball Hall of Fame are also listed, as are the competitors and results for Mexican League All-Star games.

Baseball is played in all corners of the world, so it is no surprise to learn that some of the greatest hardballers of all time never played on a U.S. major league diamond. Who knows what major league records would have been shattered had Sadaharu Oh of Japan, Josh Gibson of the Negro Leagues, Martin Dihigo of Cuba, Francisco Coimbre of Puerto Rico and Hector Espino of Mexico played in the United States. This work is a survey of the greatest baseball players who never played in the U.S. major leagues. The greatest players from the various professional leagues outside organized baseball in the United States are reviewed, and all-star teams are selected for each league. Finally, the author selects an "all-world all-star team" from the individual all-star teams from Japan, Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and the Negro Leagues.

Mexican League - The Mexican League is a AAA-level baseball minor league in Mexico. The league is regarded in Mexico as the domestic major league.

Federal League - The Federal League was the last major attempt to establish a third major league in baseball in the United States in direct competition with and opposition to the established American and National Leagues in 1914 and 1915. There were a few attempts after this (notably the Mexican League in 1946-1947 and the proposed Continental League, but nothing as direct and serious as the Federal League.

Mexico Tigres - The Mexico Tigers (los Tigres del Mexico) are a Mexican minor league baseball team located in Puebla, Mexico. They are in the Southern Division (Zona Sur) of the Mexican Baseball League.

Canadian Baseball League - The Canadian Baseball League, Canada's first professional baseball league, was an Independent minor league that operated in 2003. The league's only Commissioner was Major League Baseball star and Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame member Ferguson Jenkins.
